Towards The End of the Fe(a)stive Season

11/09/2022

The main festive season is behind us now, but the feasting is well, slowly drawing to a close. We have definitely gorged on loads of sweets and naturally we are craving teekha food or healthy food, while some of us are craving simple home-cooked food too. The focus has shifted to regular foods, with an occasional cheat day. Yes, it is somewhat difficult to wean oneself off the sumptuous fare we were having.

But like all good things comes to an end, so did we start with a routine to pamper us but in a healthy way. This is somewhat of a detox.

Here's what our weekly treats look like now.

Breakfast Yogurt Cups

After all the festive bingeing, one has to be extra careful towards your gut. The digestive system needs a much needed care. Hence, what better than a yogurt-based breakfast? Like these, Breakfast Yogurt Cups that are cupfuls of nutrition. A spoonful of this and the remaining on reaching office. Yes, I did feel light after having this for a week regularly.

Sadak Chaap Egg Fried Rice

Each time in the mornings when I pass by a food spot, it smells of mouth-watering Chinese. In the evenings I see the preps on for their Chinese stall to start serving their fare. One such occasion I was late and I overheard a customer asking for egg fried rice. If this is one of the dishes that contributes to the amazing smells even the next day, I am surely making this. Luckily, I came across an interesting recipe, Sadak Chaap Egg Fried Rice that I am sure is going to give me desired results.

Butter Chicken Momo

Too much of fried stuff, goodness. Came across an amazing way of having Tibetan and Indian food, read momos with Butter Chicken gravy. Visualising this recipe makes my mouth water. Chicken mince-stuffed momos and served in a makhni gravy is just delectably awesome

Walnuts

There's a nip in the air and health is important too. So what better way than to use the dry fruits that I got for Diwali and the staple pumpkin. I decided to try this fusion recipe using walnuts and pumpkin. There are enough spices in it to make it interesting.

Sweet Potato

As interesting as it gets, this warm Sweet Potato Salad has an interesting dressing using turmeric. A fabulous, simple and a mouthwatering salad. The salad is easy to make and good for the winters.

Fun, food and laughter sums up the last few days. It's back to the usual now with these recipes and corresponding links.
